Royal Activities

H.M. King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua has followed the guidance and practices led by H.M. King Bhumibol The Great throughout the 70 years of his reign. With great devotion, His Majesty carries forward royally initiated projects and the promotion of the “New Theory Agriculture” and Sufficiency Economy” to ease the sufferings and improve the well-being of the people nationwide.

Medical and Health Care

His Majesty the King pays high importance to Medical and Health Care. His Majesty established “Crown Prince Hospitals” through funds donated by the public to serve as medical and health care centers for people living in remote areas. The hospitals had been set up in 21 locations countrywide in 1977 and had become major community hospitals providing services of international standard in 2011.

In 2020, His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen graciously granted the “Modular Swab Unit,” part of the “Royal Ventilator and Medical Equipment Project,” to address the COVID-19 pandemic. The royal fund was provided to SCG for the construction of units for 20 hospitals nationwide.

His Majesty the King gave bags containing consumer products to patients at the Correctional Hospital, Chatuchak District, Bangkok, on the occasion of his visit to the Hospital to preside over the opening of the “Good Health…Good Heart” project, carried out by the Department of Corrections. His Majesty attaches great importance to providing equal public health services for all groups of people. In this regard, convicts should also receive appropriate medical treatment when they are sick.

Agricultural Development

Following the path of his father (King Rama IX), His Majesty the King, then the Crown Prince, continues all agriculture-assisted projects under the Mobile Agricultural Clinic Project, initiated under the royal patronage. The project provides prompt services to farmers to induce efficiency in farm production and solve problems as well as provide advice on agricultural technology. The projects help increase productivity and improve the quality of agricultural production.

His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua, when he was Crown Prince, represented His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great (King Rama IX) as the chairman of the Royal Plowing Ceremony for over 10 years. He presided over the Royal Plowing Ceremony on May 12, 2017, and continues to uphold the royal intention of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

Education

For education work, His Majesty the King has donated his personal money to build new schools and brought them under his patronage. In 2009, His Majesty established a foundation under his name “His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn’s Scholarship.” and provided scholarships to poor students across the country.

Religious:

His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua regular religious activities include seasonal changing of Decorative Attires of the Emerald Buddha Image. In addition, he dutifully performs the year-round religious ceremonies on the major holy-days observed countrywide, such as Makha Bhucha, Visakha Bhucha, Asalha Bhucha, Lent Day, and the annual Royal Kathin Ceremony upon which H.M. the King offers robes, alms and monastic paraphernalia to the monks.

His Majesty King Rama X’s Aspiration for People’s Quality of Life and Wellbeing

His Majesty Launches the project, The Spirit of Volunteering: “We do good from the heart.” The project calls for Thai people to perform good deeds through conducting community work for the benefit of the public at large.

Arts and Culture

His Majesty the King is dedicated to continuing the royal commitment to performing royal duties that preserve the nation’s valuable cultural heritage. His Majesty places great importance on the arts, particularly traditional dance and music. For instance, he encourages the public to experience Khon, an exquisite traditional dance that is a cultural treasure of the nation. His Majesty graciously ordered the organization of royal-sponsored outdoor Khon performances.
