Assumption University joins the Thai Nation in celebrating the 91st Birthday Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, marking this special occasion with heartfelt reflections on her contributions and legacy. The ceremony featured a poignant tribute speech delivered by the AU President, Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran.

Paying homage to Her Majesty’s lifelong dedication to the welfare and well-being of the Thai people, Rev. Bro. Bancha Saenghiran expressed, “Your Majesty’s caring and devotion for the development of the kingdom in every aspect… have rendered the Thai people with immense benefits and pride.” He underscored Her Majesty’s significant impact, which enabled the country to earn broad respect internationally.
In his address, Rev. Bro. Bancha Saenghiran further highlighted Her Majesty’s exceptional use of arts and culture as a tool of “Soft-Power”, emphasizing her forward-thinking and strategic uses decades before the term even came into popular parlance. Recalling pivotal moments of Her Majesty’s reign, he mentioned:
- Her graceful representation of Thai traditional dresses during State Visits to Europe and the USA in the 1960s.
- The launch of projects utilizing silk weaving and handicraft to uplift impoverished rural communities facing terrorist threats.
- Her Majesty’s continuous encouragement to local artisans and craftsmen to ensure self-sufficiency, thereby promoting unity among various indigenous groups and cultures.
In closing his tribute, Rev. Bro. Bancha Saenghiran conveyed the collective gratitude of the Assumption University community, praying for Her Majesty’s good health and longevity.
